The Brief
Building a Category That Did Not Exist Yet
When Gemennial first came to WebzPlot, demi fine jewellery was not really a thing in India. Most people either associated jewellery with heavy traditional gold pieces or with very cheap fashion jewellery. There was nothing in between.
Gemennial wanted to change that. They wanted to introduce a modern category to the Indian audience and position it as something luxurious, premium, and gold-like but still wearable and accessible. That is where WebzPlot came in.
The Store We Built
Gemennial.com on Shopify
The Gemennial store is a study in restrained luxury. A clean, warm palette. Editorial photography that communicates texture and craftsmanship. Layouts that breathe. Every design decision was made to make jewellery feel aspirational without feeling out of reach.
Built on Shopify, the store was designed mobile-first from the ground up, with a bespoke product detail experience, connected variant architecture, and a Quick Checkout integration that reduced friction at the most critical moment in the customer journey.
The Challenge
Selling Jewellery in a Category Customers Did Not Know Existed
The challenge with Gemennial was not just eCommerce. It was education. Visitors arriving at the website did not know what demi fine jewellery was, why it cost what it did, or why they should trust an online jewellery brand they had never encountered before.
Most visitors had never heard of demi fine jewellery. The site had to communicate luxury, quality, and value without overwhelming customers with information or making them feel sold to.
Many Indian customers still prefer to touch and feel jewellery before buying. The website had to replace that tactile experience entirely through product photography, material callouts, and clear quality signals.
Gemennial is premium but approachable. Every design decision had to balance aspiration with accessibility. Too expensive-looking and customers would scroll away. Too casual and the brand would lose its premium positioning.
The primary audience shops on mobile. Jewellery on a small screen is a hard sell. Imagery, navigation, and checkout all had to be reimagined for a browsing behaviour that is inherently distracted and context-switching.
The store launched with a 0.4% conversion rate. Standard for a new jewellery brand with no track record, but far below where it needed to be. Every element of the funnel had to be rebuilt with conversion intent.
Incorrect address entries and impulsive COD orders were contributing to high return-to-origin rates. The checkout flow needed to address this without adding friction that would hurt the conversion rate.
Our Approach
Design That Educates Without Selling
WebzPlot started by building a brand identity that felt premium without being intimidating. A clean, warm colour palette. A modern minimal type system. Soft visuals that let the jewellery shine on its own. The brand had to feel effortless and elevated at the same time.
Once the brand direction was set, the website was built around a core principle: educate quietly, convert confidently. Every section told part of the demi fine story without ever feeling like a lecture. Customers simply understood the category as they browsed.
Built the full Gemennial brand identity including colour palette, typography system, and visual language that positioned demi fine jewellery as aspirational yet approachable. Warm, editorial, and distinctly modern.
Designed and built gemennial.com on Shopify with clean sections, generous white space, and a layout that brought focus to textures, craftsmanship, and product quality. Easy navigation. Frictionless discovery.
Built a bespoke mobile experience with swipe-native product galleries, thumb-friendly navigation, and a product detail page that communicated material, plating, and wearability through design alone.
Redesigned the product detail page with clear USP callouts, trust signals, and connected variant selectors. Added social proof, material education, and urgency cues that reduced hesitation without applying pressure.
Integrated a Quick Checkout solution that bypassed Shopify’s standard checkout, reduced incorrect address entries, improved COD confirmation rates, eliminated Shopify commission on orders, and made the checkout faster for every user.
What We Built
Every Feature Had a Commercial Purpose
Every element of the Gemennial Shopify build was chosen because it served a measurable outcome, not because it looked good in a proposal.
Designed content sections that explained what demi fine jewellery is, what materials are used, and why 18KT gold-plated stainless steel is durable and wearable. Education delivered through design and copy without interrupting the shopping experience.
Structured the product image architecture to show finish, structure, and shine across multiple angles. Multi-image galleries with model wear shots, close-up detail images, and lifestyle context to replace the in-store tactile experience.
Built a connected variant system that displayed all colour options visually as swatches rather than dropdowns. Customers could see every colour of a piece at a glance, increasing multi-variant exploration and directly contributing to the 40% AOV increase.
Added a structured trust signal layer to every product page including Free Shipping, 24/7 Support, 7 Days Easy Return, Safe for Sensitive Skin, 100% Waterproof, and Perfect Gift callouts. Each signal addressed a specific hesitation point.
Redesigned the Gift Sets collection to show product thumbnails of what was included in each set directly on the collection page. This single change significantly increased gift set click-through rates from the homepage.
Integrated a Quick Checkout that bypassed Shopify’s default flow. Resulted in faster checkout, fewer address errors, lower RTO rates, COD confirmation automation, and the elimination of Shopify transaction fees on each order.
The Results
From 0.4% to 2.9%.
And That Was Just the Start.
Every intervention WebzPlot made on the Gemennial store was measured and validated. The numbers reflect a complete commercial transformation.
Our Approach
Four Pillars of the Gemennial Build
WebzPlot built Gemennial’s brand identity before touching the website. Colour palette, typography, visual language, and tone of voice were all defined to position demi fine jewellery as aspirational, modern, and accessible to the Indian market.
Every page, component, and interaction was designed for the mobile shopper first. Product galleries, variant selectors, trust signals, and checkout flow were all built to convert on a 375px screen where the majority of Gemennial’s customers browse.
CRO was not an afterthought. The product detail page was designed as a conversion engine with connected variants, trust signals, material education, and urgency cues all working together. The result was a 7x improvement in conversion rate.
Quick Checkout integration resolved multiple operational problems simultaneously: faster checkout for users, fewer address errors, lower RTO rates, COD confirmation automation, and the elimination of Shopify’s transaction commission on every order.
Why It Worked
Design Can Shape How an Entire Market Perceives a New Category
The Gemennial project taught WebzPlot that when a category is new, education has to be subtle and design carries enormous weight. Customers understand quality when you present it with clarity.
A minimal and clean website can feel more premium than an overly designed one. Trust is built through simplicity, transparency, and strong visuals. And a well-executed digital experience can shape an entire market’s perception of something it has never encountered before.
Gemennial needed more than a website. They needed a digital experience that made customers feel the quality of the jewellery before they ever touched it. WebzPlot built that experience and the numbers validated it.
